Apple will launch new MacBook Pros with M5 Pro and M5 Max processors “as early as” the week of March 2, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The announcement comes as current M4 models remain in short supply, a typical indicator of upcoming refreshes in Apple’s product lineup.

Gurman reports that new MacBook Pros are tied to the macOS 26.3 development cycle, which runs through March. Apple typically announces products on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays, which pins a potential launch window to March 2-4. The company has yet to officially confirm any timeline, but the reporting aligns with Apple’s historical pattern of upgrading high-end MacBook Pros annually.

Beyond the MacBook Pro M5 models, Apple is also preparing refreshes across its broader Mac lineup. The company plans to release an updated MacBook Air with M5, a new Mac Studio featuring M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips, and an enhanced Studio Display with HDR support and higher refresh rates (90-120Hz). A new MacBook Air powered by the A18 Pro chip is expected in the first half of 2026, while the redesigned MacBook Pro with OLED display and M6 chips is slated for later in the year.

Why it matters: The M5 refresh underscores Apple’s competitive pressure to maintain performance leadership in professional computing as AI and machine learning demands increase across creative workflows.

📊 By the numbers: Apple ships over 5 million MacBook Pros annually; M-series models hold 60%+ of professional laptop market share in key segments.
