⚠️ UPDATE (11:47 PM EST): Baltimore Police now confirm one person dead, three others injured. Four guns recovered, two cars damaged. Original article updated below.

Baltimore, MD – February 17, 2026 – Four people were shot late Monday evening in the 2400 block of Liberty Heights Avenue, near Mondawmin Mall in West Baltimore, prompting a heavy police response and multiple street closures in the area.

Baltimore Police Department confirmed the incident around 10:30–11:00 PM EST on February 16. One person has been confirmed dead and three others were injured, according to an updated statement from Baltimore Police. Four guns were recovered from the scene, and two vehicles were damaged in the incident.

Commissioner Richard Worley and a public information officer responded directly to the scene to oversee the initial investigation. A large police presence remained active overnight, with crime scene tape, multiple cruisers, and emergency vehicles blocking access to surrounding streets.

No suspect descriptions, arrests, or motive details have been released. Police have not indicated whether the shooting was targeted, random, or part of an ongoing dispute. The investigation is active and ongoing.

The area around Mondawmin Mall, a major transit and retail hub in West Baltimore, was shut down for several hours following the shooting. Motorists and residents were advised to avoid the vicinity.

This incident adds to ongoing concerns about gun violence in Baltimore, though early reports distinguish it from prior fatal shootings in the Mondawmin area (including unrelated historical cases at the mall or nearby subway station).

Baltimore Police stated more information would be provided as it becomes available. Residents with tips are urged to contact authorities or Metro Crime Stoppers.
